Manning Impex turns to Microlistics for new Enterprise WMS

LONDON, UK – In response to strong business expansion, London-based food services provider, Manning Impex, will deploy Microlistics Enterprise WMS in its 80,000 sq. ft. Camberley warehouse.

Manning Impex had outgrown its legacy WMS, which was predominately paper based, where all warehouse processes were manual, and lacked automated operator direction and workflows. These deficiencies failed to provide the required efficiency, traceability and scalability demanded by a growing business.

Mike Cheong, Manning Impex’s Chief Operating Officer, said that while mid-market WMS solutions were available, they wanted to work with a market-leading, Tier 1 WMS provider.

“Apart from the obvious need for a platform that integrated with our Sage X3 ERP, we wanted a vendor who was experienced in food service processes – specifically temperature controlled. With excellent growth driving a need for further warehouse expansion, it was imperative to fully automate and bring forth the advantages that a tier 1 WMS can offer and ultimately underpin a vital part in the company’s proliferation,” said Mike.

For Manning Impex, Microlistics Enterprise WMS has the food services functionality it needs such as built-in compliance rules like temperature control, batch, lot, use-by and shelf life as well as catchweight, variable weight and real-time traceability.

Microlistics WMS will provide full system-directed task management of warehouse operatives, real-time visibility of customer orders, and comprehensive track and traceability. The system will also drive differentiated service levels, packaging, and process workflows for different Manning Impex customers.

Important details about warehousing status, stock levels, stock movements throughout the day, and productivity levels will all be visible to the Manning Impex team. Other benefits will include minimised double handling of products, and reduced reliance on expert personnel.

Microlistics Founder and Managing Director, Mark Dawson, said that this technology partnership with Manning Impex was testament to Microlistics WMS’ growing reputation for alignment with the needs of specific industries.

“Microlistics WMS is utilised in food services companies worldwide, and the selection of Microlistics by Manning Impex will strengthen our position in the UK and European markets.

“We look forward to delivering a truly great WMS and seeing the long-term business benefits that follow for this leader in food services,” said Mark.
